West Suburban Home Day Care Association members are committed child care providers who have chosen to care for young children as their profession and see themselves as more than just "babysitters."We encourage our members to be licensed by the State of Illinois Department of Children & Family Services, who set basic health and safety procedures, as well as requiring each home to have enough capable adults to give children the attention and care you, as a parent, want your child to receive.
Illinois has set standards which dictate maximum sizes and child-to-provider ratios and minimum requirements for caregiver training, such as CPR and Basic First Aid.
They also set requirements for age-appropriate activities, nutrition, discipline, space, equipment, supplies, policies and records. Licensed child care providers must know what requirements they need to fulfill in order comply with State regulations.
We offer our members opportunities to work with and learn from their colleagues through training programs, workshops and conferences geared to each provider's level of experience and educational background.
